The paper sets forth evaluation procedure for spectral levels of acoustic radiation characteristic component arising as a result of propeller operation behind the ship with aft appendages (propeller brackets, fins, etc.). The above component is caused by noise radiation due to vortexes generated at appendage trailing edge when these penetrate velocity field of propeller blades. It is demonstrated that such radiation is of force nature. General relations for prediction of noise spectral levels are obtained. It is established that noise spectra depend on circulation and dimensions of individual vortex, vortex repetition rate, as well as shape and dimensions of cylindrical propeller blade section profiles. Numerical estimations of noise spectral levels are implemented using idealized profiles.
