Object and purpose of research.This study deals with air-independent power systems for submersibles. The purpose is to assess the merits of air-independent system with Li-Ion battery
Subject matter and methodsA method of calculation is developed for estimating the total power of a submersible required to support the specified modes of operation. This method makes it possible to determine the weight and size parameters of an air-independent Li-Ion based powerplant of a conventional submarine
Main results.Weight and size characteristics of the air-independent Li-Ion battery power system under consideration are compared with other types of AIP systems for a specific submersible.
Conclusion.The Li-Ion battery solution has obvious advantages over other types of AIP systems, providing simple control and reliable operation.
