Based on the relationship of composite mechanics, Reissner-Mindlin and Kirchhoff plate theories, as well as on elastic-viscoelastic correlation principle in the linear elastoviscosity theory, simple relationships were obtained that allow determination of mechanic loss coefficients for oscillating thin orthotropic plates made of polymeric composites. It is shown that dissipative parameters of symmetric orthotropic multi-layer composite plates can be calculated using commercially available software packages using FEM method (ANSYS, NASTRAN, etc.).
