Summary

 
This paper discusses the relationship between optimum width of filter for discrimination of discrete spectrum component and the natural width of this component determined probabilistically. The study also compares probabilistic approach versus existing ones (power-based and half-height width-based). This is done by generating a quasi-harmonic noisy signal as per analytically specified model discrete component, and then this signal is subject to spectral analysis. The study shows that optimum analysis bandwidth is practicable to be taken as power-based one.
