This article presents the analysis of national and foreign experience of design and construction of reinforced concrete and composite gravity based platforms for drilling, hydrocarbons production, storage and offloading preliminary in arctic shelf, including parts of shallow water areas. Specific characteristics of reinforced concrete, including pre-stressed one, as preferred construction material for such structures building was considered in the paper. In the conclusion the algorithm of pre-conceptual design of gravity based platforms is given and the perspective directions for further researches in this field are suggested.
