Summary

 
The paper describes the method for calculating the ship speed in an ice channel contracting under ice pressure. The iteration method is proposed, which is based on the geometric relations and estimated ship ice performance curves in compressed broken ice conditions. The conclusion of the study is that the ship is able to maintain stable speed at partial interaction of hull sides with the contracting channel edges.
