This paper discusses volumetric activity checks of the gas from high-pressure system intended to detect certain β-radiating nuclides. Counting sample (gas chamber) was found to contain a low-energy nuclide (allegedly 14C) with β-radiation intensity Е ≈ 150 keV. The paper suggests a method for identification and recording of certain radionuclides in high-pressure gas, pointing out the challenges in handling gaseous radwaste (mostly containing 14C) and suggesting the R&D s intended to find out possible ways for developing special methods of radionuclide detection in high-pressure gas system, as well as for gaseous radwaste handling
