Summary |
The paper develops a crash-stop calculation method for the ship having several different propulsors and analyses the specifics of their operation in case of this maneuver. Crash-stop calculation is based on a system of differential equations including the movement equation for the ship and operation equation for each of her propulsors. The calculation assumes that lateral offset of ship during crash-stop is negligible. The propulsors could be FPPs, CPPs and pod propulsors: each of these propulsor types has its own specifics of operation in non-design conditions. The newly developed calculation method has undergone the validation (including the comparison versus full-scale data) and proved itself valid. This method was applied to perform crash-stop calculations for a multi-shaft vessel, and these calculation have shown that joint operation of several different propulsors results in significant redistribution of loads acting on them. |
