Summary |
Object and purpose of research.Analysis of the emergencies related to ship capsizing, in order to develop an efficient method for rescuing the people from the air pockets inside the capsized ship. Subject matter and methodsThis paper is based on the publicly available data on the emergencies involving the personnel rescue from air pockets of capsized ships. The paper also provides the results of the patent search intended to examine the existing inventions and assess their efficiency in real conditions. Main results. The analysis of numerous emergencies has shown that currently there is no efficient method for crew rescue from a capsized ship. The method suggested in this paper, as well as its design support, allow the crew rescue during these emergencies with a high probability of success. Conclusion. The paper suggests the method for rescuing the people from a capsized ship. The implementation of this method implies minor retrofits in hull design. The paper also describes the sequence of actions to be taken by crew, passengers and rescuers during these emergencies. |
