A method for estimation of thrust characteristics for a single-shaft ship is developed using the system of hull/propeller interaction coefficients based on bollard-pull condition. The method makes it possible to determine the thrust characteristics of a single-shaft ship at slow speeds (around the bollard-pull point). The results of calculations by the proposed method are compared with the data obtained by calculations based on the classical system of ship hull/propeller interaction coefficients. The results obtained by the two methods are in good agreement.
The system of hull/propeller interaction coefficients based on bollard-pull condition is proposed for a multi-shaft ship. The method for estimation of thrust characteristics for a multi-shaft ship is developed using the system of hull/propeller interaction coefficients based on bollard-pull condition. The method makes it possible to determine the thrust characteristics of a multi-shaft ship at slow speeds (around the bollard-pull point). The results of calculations by the proposed method are compared with the data on the icebreaker of project 32350 given in the technical report of VTT (Turku, Finland) obtained by scaling up of self-propulsion model test results to full. The comparisons show satisfactory agreement of the results obtained by two different methods.
