Summary |
The paper shows that structural design of “new-from-old” ships applies a sound scientific approach to determination when new parts must be installed and when the old ones can be used. This is done in full compliance with international and national requirements concerning delivery date of a new ship, and operational reliability of the ship for the specified service life is guaranteed. This approach also ensures a new quality of the ship in terms of main purpose and extensive use of advanced calculation methods and technologies. The structural margins for a “new-from-old” ship must be increased, as compared to those required by the Rules for brand new ships. |
