Summary |
Operability of steel structures affected by high temperature is an important topic in metal science, civil engineering and shipbuilding. The paper provides the test data regarding operability of carbon and low-alloy steels affected by the temperatures typical for fires aboard ships (up to +700 °С). It has been shown that heat drastically reduces the strength of steel structures. Along with it, once base metal and welded joints cool down, they regain their initial static and fatigue strength. |
