Rapid development of the World Ocean provokes the creation of a great number of selfcontained sea-based systems of different purpose. Here we have the problem of designing electric energy sources, which could ensure long-term operation of these systems. Some time ago the problem of power supply was solved with the use of nuclear power sources, but at present such battery cells are prohibited due to environmental restraint. At the same time various-type storage batteries have limited operation life due to their small capacity. In view of this, alternative power sources are brought into the forefront, which use natural energy resources, including renewable wave energy.
Here are several criteria explaining why the use of sea wave energy is preferable as compared to the application of other power sources:
    generation of electric energy by a wave generator is ecologically harmless;
    the wave energy is practically inexhaustible;
    energy is extracted directly in the place of self-contained devices installation thus minimizing the costs on laying the expensive submarine communication lines;
    long-term operation of self-contained facilities.
