Summary

Object and purpose of research. This paper reviews recent studies in non-conventional propellers (CPPs).
Subject matter and methodsThis study is based on both experimental tools and new approaches to development of analytical methods.
Main results. It is shown that application of adaptive-pitch propellers is often caused by the changes of navigation conditions, when these propellers could have advantage over conventional ones.
Conclusion. This study could be a guidance for researchers on how to pursue these studies further on, and it also shows more accurately in what area these propulsors could be useful.
