Object and purpose of research.Experimental study on efficiency of active vibration control (AVC) of ship structures
Subject matter and methodsLaboratory tests of AVC systems on the dummies simulating ship equipment. Vibroacoustic measurements with and without AVC. Efficiency of the AVC was assessed as reduction in RMS vibrations of the foundation structure.
Main results.The tests of AVC demonstrated high efficiency in damping of the vibrations induced by periodical forces and transferred to ship structures via bearing members. The efficiency of 4-channel AVC system was not less than 18 dB. The efficiency of 6-channel AVC system intended to mitigate periodical vibration transferred from the propulsor to foundation structures via the shaft line was ~10 dB.
Conclusion.The study shows that AVC can efficiently mitigate equipment and machinery vibration transferred to ship structures via bearing members
