Summary

 
Object and purpose of research. This paper studies the efficiency of resonant anti-vibration tiles in noise and vibration damping of hull plates.
Subject matter and methods.Calculated estimates for vibration frequencies and modes of two resonating anti-vibration tiles: with free edges and with rigid fastening to the hull plate at the geometric center of the tile. Measurement of vibration and noise radiation spectra at hull plate mockup with and without anti-vibration tile of each type. Vibration damping efficiency was determined as difference of corresponding noise and vibration levels recorded at the mockup
Main results. Resonating tiles of the second type, i.e. with appropriately sized point fastening to hull plate, offer considerable mitigation of lower resonant peaks in noise and vibration spectra of hull plate than the tiles of the first type, i.e. with the entire surface contacting with hull plate. These tiles become even more efficient if their lower natural bending frequencies are appropriately tuned to peak vibration frequency of hull plate.
Conclusion. The paper shows that noise and vibration of hull plate can be efficiently damped by a resonating tile rigidly fastened to it at its geometric center point
