Summary

 
The conceptual design of a large-capacity tanker BaltMax outfitted with a device for generating a continuous cavity on the ship bottom is considered. The ship is designed to have maximum deadweight allowed by size and draft restrictions of Danish straits and an ice class suitable for year-round operation between the Baltic Sea ports, primarily Primorsk and Ust-Luga oil ports.  The main purpose of this investigation was to experimentally verify economic viability of the air-cavity technology for a large-capacity tanker with restricted draft as well as to analyze technical and economic feasibility of this project.
