Summary

 
Object and purpose of research. This paper discusses strength parameters of Project PV300VD mixed-navigation passenger vessel in order to describe feasibility assessment procedure for large ships with considerable bow overhang
Subject matter and methods.Following common methods of ship theory and design, as well as of naval structural mechanics, this study relies on Marine Engineering Bureau and LOTOS shipyard databases and on the rules of various classification societies.
Main results. This paper justifies the feasibility of safely launching PV300VD mixed-navigation passenger vessel with significant ( practically 30 % of overall length) bow overhang.
Conclusion. This paper justifies a safe launching procedure for PV300VD mixed-navigation passenger vessel with considerable bow overhang, to ensure global strength of both the ship and her launching transborder. Taking into account temporary hull reinforcements, both global and local strength of PV300VD hull are ensured with a certain safety margin. This study made it possible to perform in May 2019 a successful launching of this ship without slip upgrade which would have too costly
