This paper discusses a relevant task of improving fire safety systems for the facilities with strong fire hazard. It points out that modern advances in computer technology made optoelectronic systems more capable and highlights the importance of visualrange optoelectronic systems in shipbuilding applications. The paper describes the algorithm of video data analysis suggested for more efficient flame recognition, based on a refined color model of flame with application of RGB and HSV spaces. The authors argue that this model is more efficient for determination of all potential flame areas in various environments and lighting conditions. Color-based algorithm of flame recognition with application of enhanced colour model was simulated in MATLAB and validated on a fragment of flame video footage.
