It reviews and analyses various LIDAR detection methods, tools and technologies used in oil and gas exploration. The paper analyses the efficiency of alternative LIDAR detection systems and outlines the ways to enhance LIDAR detection capabilities in oil and gas exploration by means of the Laser Spectroscopic System, up to the industrial application stage
