Summary

 
Object and purpose of research. This paper discusses navigation support methods and tools for distant water areas to work out fast deployment techniques for navigation support system (remotely controlled mobile sonar suite with seabed beacons).
Subject matter and methods.This paper is an in-depth analysis of available materials on the current condition of this system, intended to enhance its capabilities and correct existing drawbacks, so as to make this system truly mobile and fast-to-redeploy. This task was accomplished by means of common theoretical methods (analysis, synthesis, analogy and simulation).
Main results. This paper describes a mobile sonar beacon, the key element of suggested remotely controlled mobile navigation sonar suite, as well as navigation support methods for water areas.
Conclusion. This study gives a theoretical justification to the practicability of remotely controlled mobile navigation sonar suite and navigation support methods for water areas based on mobile sonar beacons installed on seabed. This flexible, mobile and fast-to-deploy system will certainly become a valuable asset providing navigation support to ships and submarines in whatever metocean and ice conditions.
