Object and purpose of research. This paper discusses dynamics of viscous incompressible layer with a bending plate as one boundary and a fixed wall as the other boundary.
Subject matter and methods.The study is based on linearized Navier-Stokes equation describing the dynamics of viscous incompressible fluid.
Main results. Calculation of specific mechanic resistance for a layer of vibrating plate and loss coefficient of the plate due to the motion of viscous layer.
Conclusion. The study shows that mechanical resistance is inversely proportional to layer thickness (expressed in wavelengths), the reactive part being inversely proportional to the first power of kH and the active part being inversely proportional to the third power of kH. As thickness grows, the solution is asymptotically reduced to the common case of semi-infinite layer.
