Summary |
Most of leading ice basins in the world use self-propelled models instead of non-self-propelled ones to perform towing tests intended to determine ice resistance. The change in approach to towing tests is due to many reasons, and the most important of them is modern requirements to ensuring high ice propulsion performance for astern running. The paper analyses the procedures applied by different ice basins, as well as possible sources of errors. It also suggests the approaches allowing correct performance of such tests. |
